10. Interview and a spontaneous story of a patient as the main points in matching a remedy

The major task for a homeopath, as I have mentioned many times, is to recommend a remedy which will match to the manifestations of Your disease. A homeopath can discover these manifestations only after your description of your symptoms and, of course, after a general surveying.

All manifestations of your disease, all your feelings are called symptoms. According to the symptoms you will be telling about, a homeopath will have to see those special ones which characterize exactly Your disease and help to prescribe exactly Your remedy.

The symptoms can be of 3 levels: psychological, common and individual.

Psychological symptoms are of prime importance for a homeopath, as we all differ from each other, first of all, in our character, habits, specific behavior, fears, disbeliefs, peculiarities of memory, speech, etc.

That is why try to tell your homeopath in details about what kind of a person you had been before your got ill, what influence your illness has had on you, how you have changed during your disease.

Second in importance symptoms are so-called common symptoms. Common symptoms are those peculiarities, which characterize our organism as a whole, and describing which we use the pronoun “I”. When you tell, describing your state of health: “I love draughts, I hate milk, I sweat with fear, I tremble with excitement, I cannot stand when somebody touches me”, etc. These are very significant symptoms for a homeopath. Every person having one and same, let us say, figures of blood pressure, will differ from each other in these reactions, which are individual. That is why for a homeopath these are absolutely different “constitutions”, and they need vastly different remedies.

Individual symptoms are of minor importance for a homeopath, only nonstandard symptoms for the patients with such a diagnosis can be of any help. For example, the fact that a patient with tonsillitis has a sore throat will not be of any help to a homeopath in matching Your remedy. But if you have all other signs of tonsillitis and have no sore throat, what is strange, then it is very important, because it characterizes particular qualities of Your organism. One more example: all patients with a sore throat feel better taking some hot drinks, but for you - only cold drinks are better.

I am not writing this for you to start seeking these peculiarities. In order to see these peculiarities, you need to know how it happens usually, so you have to be a doctor.

All I am saying is for you to realize how significant your story for a homeopath is at every visit. The hardest patients for a homeopath are not with “cancer or gravel”. But those patients, who answer that they have “high pressure” or “gravel”, or “as usual” when they are asked to tell about their troubles or their senses after taking the remedy. Do not make your doctor “pry” into symptoms every time. Get prepared for each visit, think over and describe your senses. A homeopath has no assistant while matching a remedy, but only your story. That is why you have to learn your disease manifestations and tell about them.

While treating small children or patients in a state of insensibility we have to rely on the observations of bedside people only. Our own observations are also of great help, but they, as you realize, are very short in time and require more contacts, more frequent appointments.

Laboratory tests and other methods of examination cannot be of any help while matching a remedy. We need this information to define a stage at the moment of visiting a homeopath. In the course of treatment you have to obligatory undergo from time to time the same examinations to monitor the treatment correctness.
